DFI will be offering a six-week workshop series on Community Based Self-Advocacy & Mental Wellbeing for disabled people in Cork. The workshop will be offered online and will be delivered by myself. My name is Áine O’Sullivan and I work with DFI as a Community Development Officer.
The workshop content will cover some key areas including:
- Mental Health
- Social Justice and Human Rights
- Models of Advocacy
- Effective Communication Skills in Self-Advocacy
- Sourcing Information and Rights Based Practice
The workshop series is suitable for anyone who is interested in improving their ability to speak up for themselves and have their voice heard. It is also useful for people who would like to learn more about themselves, meet new people and improve their confidence. Participants will get an understanding of self-care, and the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.
- Date: Every Thursday from 23 February – 30 March 2023.
- Time: 12.00pm – 2.00pm
- Venue: Online via Zoom
- Number of places on the course: 15
- Closing date to apply: Wednesday 15 February 2023
There is no charge for self-advocates to complete the workshop series. Self-advocates will get the most out of the series if they are able to attend for all six sessions.
We would be grateful if you could share this invitation with your self-advocate network in the Cork area and invite people to apply by the closing date of Wednesday 15 February 2023. All applications should be sent by email to email@example.com.
If you would like more information or if there are any special requirements to assist self-advocates in being part of the workshop series, please contact me by email or give me a call on 0861717119.
DFI would like to thank Bank of Ireland and the Community Foundation for Ireland for their funding of these workshops.
