Cork CIL is recruiting flexi/part-time skilled PAs to work with a range of people with physical and/or sensory disabilities in their own homes in the South Lee and Blackpool areas of Cork City. The role of the PA is important and varied. It may involve providing personal care (including personal hygiene), and light domestic home support. A large part of the role is providing social and emotional support. Cork CIL’s catchment area includes:

  • Bandon
  • Bishopstown
  • Blackpool
  • Blackrock
  • Carrigaline

Job Description

The roles are generally part time, but skilled staff can work to increase their hours with the organisation over time. If you are already in employment, or have prior commitments, registration with Cork CIL may provide additional flexible working opportunities.

We are looking for caring and skilled staff who are available to work shifts of 1 to 5 hours or more for an immediate start. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who are available in the early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as well as for relief/cover work.

Successful applicants must be flexible and may be required to work with more than one service user per day, which makes independent transport means essential.

Community Employment Scheme

The Community Employment Programme (CE Programme) is administered by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP), and aims to help long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment through a return-to-work routine. The programme assists them to enhance and develop both their technical and personal skills, which can then be used in the workplace.

Cork CIL, in conjunction with Northside Community Enterprises, sponsors a CE scheme as part of the greater DEASP CE Programme.

Participants on NCE’s CE scheme will have access to a wide range of training, development, and support opportunities. Cork CIL provides meaningful work experience and training for participants on its CE scheme. Participants are engaged as PAs, drivers, and project workers. Participants work 19.5 hours per week on the programme.

Participants on Cork CIL’s CE scheme also benefit from the guidance of a dedicated supervisor with a comprehensive knowledge of the disability sector and a wealth of experience in supporting CE scheme participants into long-term mainstream employment.
