Cork Centre for Independent Living (Cork CIL) is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020 (S.I. No. 358/2020).

Accessibility is not a compliance exercise for us — it is what we do. If any part of this website gets in your way, please tell us and we will fix it or get you the information another way.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the harmonised standard EN 301 549 v3.2.1, which is broadly equivalent to conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. “Partially compliant” means that some content does not fully conform to the standard; the exceptions are listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not fully accessible, for the reasons given.

Non-compliance with the regulations

  • Our online application forms (the Travel Club Membership Form and the Online PA Application Form) are provided through a third-party form service, Jotform. We cannot fully control the accessibility of that service. The PA application form also includes an anti-spam “CAPTCHA” check, which can be difficult or impossible to complete for some people with visual or cognitive disabilities.

    Alternative: you do not have to use the online form. You can apply by phone on 021 432 2651, by email to info@corkcil.ie, or by post to the address below, and we will complete the form with you or send you a copy in another format.

Content outside the scope of the regulations

  • Documents in the Staff and Trustee portals. These are restricted-access areas, and some documents are files (such as PDFs) that were produced before this website was published. If you need any of these documents in an accessible format, please contact us and we will provide one.

  • Third-party social media content. Content we link to on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn is controlled by those platforms.

What we have done

This website was built with accessibility as a requirement rather than an afterthought. It includes:

  • a “Skip to main content” link as the first item on every page;
  • a visible keyboard focus indicator on every link, button and form field;
  • text and background colour combinations tested to meet the WCAG AA contrast minimums;
  • descriptive text alternatives for images, and empty alternatives for decorative ones;
  • headings in a correct, logical order, with one main heading per page;
  • pages that reflow without horizontal scrolling down to a 320-pixel-wide screen, and that work at 200% zoom;
  • respect for the “reduce motion” setting in your operating system;
  • form fields with permanently visible labels;
  • information presented as real text rather than as pictures of text, so it can be enlarged, restyled, copied and translated.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 28 July 2026.

The assessment was carried out by Cork CIL’s website developer as a self-assessment, combining automated testing (axe-core, against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 Level A and AA rule sets) with manual testing of keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, text spacing, page reflow at small screen sizes and heading structure.

This statement will be reviewed at least annually, and whenever the website changes significantly.
