Cork Centre for Independent Living (“Cork CIL”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting the confidentiality and privacy of the information it is entrusted with, and to handling your personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the rights you have.

In short: we only collect the details you choose to give us through the contact form, we use them solely to reply to you, and we never sell your data. This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies unless you accept them.

Who we are

This website is operated by Cork Centre for Independent Living (Cork CIL). Cork CIL is a charity established in Ireland with a registered address of First Floor, Lawley House, Monahan Road, Celtic Park, Cork, T12 N6PY.

Cork CIL is registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority (CRA), CRA number 20036553; Charity number CHY 12470; and is a company limited by guarantee with no share capital — company number 276198.

Information we collect

You do not need to register any personal information in order to use this website.

  • Contact form: when you send us a message, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided) and the content of your message, so that we can respond to you.
  • Technical information: our hosting provider automatically processes limited technical data (such as browser type and IP address) for security and to deliver the site reliably.
  • Analytics (only with your consent): if analytics is enabled and you accept analytics cookies, we collect anonymised information about how visitors use the site (such as pages viewed) to help us improve it.

It is Cork CIL’s policy to limit the information collected to the minimum required to complete your request. We use your personal data only for the purpose for which it was collected, unless we obtain your specific consent to other uses, or unless otherwise required or permitted by law.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide only to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide the support or information you have asked for;
  • process job or service applications where relevant;
  • improve this website (where you have consented to analytics).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers that help us operate the site (see below).

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores in your browser. This site uses only the cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary for it to work:

  • Security and delivery: our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set cookies needed to protect the site and deliver it reliably.
  • Staff and trustee portals: when authorised staff or trustees log in to the private portal areas, a secure login session cookie is set so they stay signed in. This applies only to portal users, not to general visitors.
  • Cookie preference: if a cookie consent banner is shown, your accept/decline choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage.

No analytics or advertising cookies are set unless you accept them. If analytics is enabled on this site, it runs under Consent Mode: nothing is stored until you actively accept via the cookie banner, and declining keeps all analytics off. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, and you can also set your browser to refuse cookies generally (see your browser’s help pages).

Service providers

  • Contact form delivery: messages submitted through the contact form are delivered by email using a third-party email provider (Brevo). An automatic acknowledgement may be sent to the email address you provide.
  • Hosting: this website is hosted on Cloudflare’s global network, and site content is managed in a content management system hosted in the EU.

These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data-protection terms.

Transfers outside the EEA

In order to provide the website, some technical data may be processed in locations outside the European Economic Area (for example, on our hosting provider’s global network). Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards under GDPR. Please do not send us personal data if you do not consent to this.

How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry and application information only for as long as necessary to deal with your request and to meet our legal and administrative obligations, after which it is securely deleted. Technical data collected for security purposes is not kept longer than necessary and in any event no longer than one year.

Your rights

You have certain legal rights concerning your information and the way we process it. This includes:

  • a right to access your personal information;
  • a right to request that we correct inaccurate information or update incomplete information;
  • a right to request that we restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances;
  • a right to request the deletion of personal information (excluding medical records);
  • a right to receive the personal information you provided to us in a portable format;
  • a right to object to us processing your personal information in certain circumstances; and
  • a right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.

If at any point you believe the information we process about you is incorrect, you can request to see it and have it corrected or deleted.

Access to your Cork CIL records

You can request access to your Cork CIL records by making a Subject Access Request (SAR). You can do this by:

  • calling the Cork CIL office on 021 432 2651;
  • emailing Data_SAR@corkcil.ie; or
  • writing to: Data Protection Officer, Cork Centre for Independent Living, First Floor, Lawley House, Monahan Road, Celtic Park, Cork, T12 N6PY.

If you wish to raise a complaint about how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied with our response, or believe we are not processing your personal data in accordance with the law, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
