Bishopstwon  Leisureworld has opened its Functional  Zone

Bishoptown  Leisureworld  has  opened  its  Functional  Zone .The vision  for  the  is  to  provide easy  access and  opportunity  for  people  with  specific  exercise needs t o exercise  under  supervision with a  programme developed in  conjunction  with  a healthcare/ medical  professional Functional Zone is a dedicated training area, with a range of fully accessible equipment.

Most people exercise for health & wellness benefits, whether it’s to lose weight, increase energy, improve mental wellbeing, reduce risk of illness & disease – generally looking and feeling healthier.

People with physical disabilities or medical conditions which result in limited movement function are no different. Not only does exercising provide health & wellness benefits, exercising provides an opportunity to be part of the community and society in a way that that provides a feeling of achievement and progress.

Áiseanna Tacaíochta:
Áiseanna Tacaíochta was set up to develop a user-led network that  aimed to empowered its members, to move from dependency on disability service providers to managing their own personal budgets and services in a mainstream market environment.

Regrettably  the  project  did  not  secure   funding  for  2013 and  has come to a  close.  The  participants  found  the  project  presented  many challenges and has increased the  learning. A  full report  will be published   in the   new  year    and  we  hope to  bring  it  to  you.
